Sustainable Passive House Golf Lodges Masterplan
Redhead Architects led the masterplanning of a proposed development comprising 50 four-bedroom Net-Zero golf lodges with associated accommodation, set within a mature woodland landscape.
The development is being designed to meet full Passive House standards, with a strong focus on sustainability, environmental sensitivity and long-term performance. The proposals aim to enhance the existing facilities on site while making a meaningful contribution to the local community and surrounding landscape.
From the outset, the site strategy has been informed by a collaborative, multidisciplinary design process. A series of hand-drawn overlays allowed the team to test spatial arrangements and site-wide relationships, working closely with consultants across landscape design, ecology, flood risk, topography and archaeology. This process helped guide key decisions around building orientation, access and site infrastructure.
In parallel, we developed the scheme in 3D to evaluate massing, layout, and landscape integration at various stages. Virtual reality was used internally to test ideas and externally to support client and stakeholder engagement. To assist in communicating the proposals to potential investors and partners, we produced a series of animated fly-throughs and high-quality visualisations.
The result is a well-considered masterplan that balances performance, context, and experience offering a sensitive and forward-looking approach to low-energy rural development.
